Franklin Historically And Today
Originally called West Farms, Franklin was settled by residents of Norwich in 1663. In 1786, West Farms incorporated under the name and government presently used. Franklin's population barely exceeds that at the time of its founding. Dairy and poultry remain key parts of the local economy. Despite its sparse population, Franklin offers a surprising range of homes, including charismatic old homes as well as new construction. The local educational system provides a range of solid academic programs for the young citizens of the community. Franklin combines the best of both worlds: a peaceful, small town atmosphere with the benefits of a location central to popular commercial centers.
